Treat Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Scars and Stretch Marks with Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen Induction Therapy, sometimes referred to as “skin needling” is a quick and highly effective non-laser anti-aging treatment. This procedure can be performed on virtually any part of the body to reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as treat stretch marks, acne, scarring and cellulite.

We offer Derma Needling in our Edgewater office by Brenda Novak of Forever Beauty in Annapolis. Brenda is trained and certified in derma needling by the Academy of Cosmetic Arts and Sciences.

    How Does Derma Needling Work

Brenda uses a medical grade device that introduces a series of very fine needles into the skin, creating many microscopic channels. As these tiny injuries heal, they stimulate collagen and build up connective tissue while keeping the epidermal layer in tact. The result is healthier, smoother and tighter skin.

    What Can Derma Needling Treat?

Skin needling can be used on virtually all skin types to treat a variety of skin conditions including:

    • Acne, acne scarring and other scars
    • Stretch mark
    • Large pores
    • Crows feet
    • Fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck and hands
    • Wrinkles around the mouth, nose and lips
    • Cellulite

The Skin Needling procedure varies based on the treatment area, condition of the skin and desired results. For most patients, a treatment session lasts less than an hour. Brenda may recommend multiple treatments to achieve the best results.

    About the Skin Needling Procedure

First, Brenda will apply a topical local anesthetic to reduce discomfort. She will use a sterile, single-use medical grade derma roller device.

The skin roller is moved gently over the surface of the skin to create many microscopic channels into the skin. Depending on the condition of the skin, Brenda can target varying degrees of the dermal layers to produce the desired results.

The microscopic punctures close over almost immediately so there is no extended recovery period. As the “damaged” skin heals, it generates new skin cells to literally repair itself, resulting in thicker, plumper and more youthful looking skin.

    Derma Needling FAQs

    How much does it cost?

The cost of derma needling depends on the size and scope of the treatment area as well as the condition of the skin and desired results. The average cost per session to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face is $350. We offer packages with discounts for multiple treatments.

    Does it hurt?

There may be discomfort associated with the derma needling procedures. Brenda will discuss the procedure and your pain threshold in advance. She can offer various options to manage discomfort including anesthetic when needed.

    How long does it take?

Most skin needling treatment sessions take less than an hour. Multiple sessions are typically needed to achieve the best results.

    Is it safe?

Yes, skin needling treatment is completely safe. We follow all safety and sterilization guidelines. All needles are new and sterile for each client, disposed of after use. Brenda Novak has undergone special training at the Academy of Cosmetic Arts and Sciences, learning the highest standards for patient care, safety and comfort.

    Is there any recovery period?

You may experience some mild swelling, soreness, redness and/or discomfort for 1 to 2 days following the procedure. Most patients return to work immediately using an ointment, over-the-counter pain reliever and/or ice packs to alleviate discomfort.

How long do the results last

One of the biggest advantages of skin needling is that the results are extremely long lasting, especially when compared to alternative treatments like fillers, peels and lasers. Skin needling doesn’t stop the aging process, but it does reset the clock. Following a proper skin care routine with retinol products and sun protection will ensure your results last 5 years or longer.
