    Types of Dentures

Dr. Cutting offers several solutions for missing teeth. There are two basic types of dentures: complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used for patients who are missing all of their upper or lower teeth. A partial denture is similar to a bridge in that it replaces several missing teeth. Either solution can be fixed or removed.

In addition, Dr. Cutting can choose from a wide range of materials, giving you many options for dentures. Dr. Cutting will evaluate your condition and help you choose the best solution for your long term needs and goals.

    What are Implant Dentures?

Dr. Cutting is one of the few dentists in Annapolis to offer complete treatment for implant dentures. Dr. Cutting will place the implant and complete the restoration in his Edgewater dental office giving you maximum convenience and comfort.

An implant denture, also known as “all on four” or “teeth in a day”, is a type of fixed denture that is supported by several strategically placed dental implants. Implant dentures offer patients maximum retention with no worries about a denture slipping or falling out of the mouth.

An implant denture also promotes improved health and quality of life compared to traditional removable dentures. Patients can enjoy foods without restrictions and have teeth that look and feel more natural.

    Denture FAQs

    How much do dentures cost?

The cost of dentures will depend on your specific condition, the type of denture and materials used. Dr. Cutting will present you with the various options and costs before selecting a treatment. If you have dental insurance, we will submit the necessary paperwork and billing so that you receive direct reimbursement. In addition, we offer flexible payment options and interest free financing for qualified patients.

    Do you repair dentures?

If you need denture repair, please contact our office. In some cases, we may be able to repair an existing denture. In other situations, Dr. Cutting may suggest that a denture replacement is best.

    Benefits of Dentures

There are many benefits that come with choosing full or partial dentures to replace missing teeth. When you come in for your consultation, our Annapolis dental team will be able to help you determine which tooth replacement option will meet the unique needs of your budget and your smile. The benefits of receiving custom partial or full dentures includes:

    • Makes chewing and speaking easier
    • Boosts overall confidence
    • You can still enjoy your favorite foods
    • Helps maintain the shape of the face
    • Easy to remove and clean
    • Protects remaining teeth from wear and tear

    How do dentures affect eating?

Your dentures will likely take some getting used to at first. We recommend starting with soft foods as you learn how to eat with your new dentures. Then, you can begin cutting up foods that are harder to eat and chewing them with your molars. Your gums may feel sore for a little while, and eating may take longer than usual, but eventually, eating with your dentures should become second nature. If you have any questions or concerns or you still have trouble eating with them after a few weeks, please let our team know.

Can I wear my dentures at night?

Dentures can be worn while sleeping, but it is recommended that you take them out before going to bed whenever possible. This gives your gums a chance to rest, and soaking your dentures overnight will help them stay moist and maintain their custom shape. Soaking your dentures in a denture solution will also help to kill bacteria and ensure that they look and feel clean. If you sleep with your dentures in, make sure to brush them and rinse them off before putting them back in for the night.

    How long do dentures last?

Full dentures can last anywhere from 5 to 10 years, while partial dentures can last up to 15 years. The best way to help your dentures last for as long as possible is by taking great care of them. You will want to brush your dentures every day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and mild soap or denture cleaner to keep them clean. You should also avoid chewing anything with your dentures that you would not chew with natural teeth. Once it’s time for new dentures, our team would be happy to design and create a new set of custom dentures for you.
